Burn This: September Newsletter
Dear Revelators and Tolerators,
Happy day to all faithful and secular celebrants near, far, and in between. And may all book-burners, holy or otherwise, find themselves doused with cool and refreshing water. Here’s hoping we all find our particular gods in squirt guns, garden hoses, and Dixie Riddle Cups.
Music is a good source, too. And we’ve got three great shows coming up.
Tomorrow night, at the Sentient Bean, I’ll be joined by splendiferous locals General Oglethorpe and the Panhandlers as we welcome Blair Crimmins, an amazing crooner and spanker of banjos from the big city of Atlanta. Come on out and learn how to forget all the mean people in the universe.
Next Sunday, September 19, I’ll be doing a stripped down set in support of under- and above-ground Southern Gothic, alt-country phenomenon, Jim White. It’s a house concert and covered-dish affair (what you Yankees call a “potluck”), so it’s a pretty great opportunity to see, hear, and eat caserole with Jim. We’re sort of at maximum capacity right now, but if you RSVP to the email address below, we may be able to squeeze you in (especially if you promise to bring a pie or cake).
And Monday, September 20, I’ll be scooting up to New York City to perform a rare solo set at Union Hall in Brooklyn, at Rebecca Pronsky‘s Brooklyn Songwriter’s Exchange.

My wife says this is evidence of North Carolina’s greatness. I say it’s evidence that pop eats itself now more and faster than ever.
And here’s a compelling reason to chase tornadoes.
Best,
Dare
